Investment & Asset Operations Subject Matter Expert
The Investment & Asset Operations Subject Matter Expert (SME) at Hemenway Trust Company oversees investment-related operational activities across all client accounts. This role serves as a key resource within the organization, providing expertise, guidance, and quality assurance.
The ideal candidate will ensure the highest levels of accuracy, regulatory compliance, and timely resolution of open items, while supporting internal and external stakeholders. This role is essential to ensuring the accurate processing and maintenance of portfolio holdings, securities transactions, alternative investments, and asset data integrity. It supports investment oversight and works closely with internal and external stakeholders to maintain efficient, accurate, and seamless asset management operations.
Job Summary:
- Complete initial and annual investment reviews and maintain supporting documentation.
- Process, reconcile, and resolve trade activity for marketable securities and mutual funds.
- Manage timely and accurate asset transfers, free deliveries/receipts, reconciliations, and maintain accurate tax lot and cost basis records.
- Administer alternative and non-marketable assets, including transactions, valuations, pricing, and income processing.
- Support investment governance through meeting preparation, minutes, and portfolio reporting.
- Deliver exceptional service to internal stakeholders and external clients.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and escalation point for complex investment and asset-related matters.
- Collaborate across departments and with service providers to support operational efficiency and client service excellence.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in related field.
- At least 5-8 years of experience within trust operations, investment operations, securities processing, and alternative assets.
- Familiarity with fiduciary responsibilities and investment strategies.
- Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and experience with trust accounting systems and custodial platforms preferred.
